A cycle is not one document

The template schedules; the invoice is issued when due

A maintenance or subscription contract does not replace an invoice each period. Each Fawtar issue is its own invoice with a number, a date, and a collection status. The VAT implementing regulations tie tax due on a continuous supply to the earliest of invoice date, payment due date, or payment received. Stopping the schedule blocks future issues and does not erase past ones. Do not repair a past period by editing the template.

Fawtar at fawtar.app is an independent Saudi product. It is not ZATCA’s Fatoora platform, not Fatoora.app, not Oman’s Fawtara programme, and not Jordanian Fawtara products. This page is a reading aid. Last verified 2026-08-29. It is not tax advice.

What stays, what renews

ElementTemplate / scheduleEach issue
NumberNot an invoice number.A new number in the organisation’s sequence.
Tax effectNot filed on its own. That period’s invoice, by buyer type and invoice, due, or paid date.
If you stop itNo further issues.Issued invoices stay; correct with a note.

This is not a repeating quote

A quote is before the sale. A recurring invoice is after agreement, period by period. Accepting a quote does not open the subscription sequence until you set the schedule and issue the first invoice.

Deposits and subscriptions

If money is taken before the service starts, that is an advance-invoice event. Do not drop it into the schedule as “month one” without a document at receipt.

What Fawtar does here

Business: monthly, quarterly or yearly cycles, issued into the invoice register. Each copy carries the template lines and its own number. Not a ZATCA portal.

Short questions

Is the subscription contract enough without a monthly invoice?

The contract governs the relationship. The return needs the period documents. Ask your accountant and the regulations.

I changed the template; do old invoices change?

No. Issued invoices stay. The next period uses the new template. A past error needs a note.
