Saudi VAT number format checker

Check the 15-digit format locally, then copy the number into ZATCA’s official service to verify actual registration. A passing format check is not proof of registration.

Preparing saved inputs...

  • •Contains 15 digits
  • •Digits only, without letters or symbols
  • •Starts with 3, as required by the Saudi format
  • •Ends with 3, as required by the Saudi format

Note: This tool checks only the format of a VAT number. It does not confirm registration with ZATCA. Use ZATCA's official taxpayer lookup to verify registration.

This saves a copy of this tool's inputs and result, then opens it after signup or login. It does not issue an invoice or start a paid subscription.

How to check a Saudi VAT number

  1. 1. Paste the VAT number from the business’s registration certificate. Arabic and Persian digits are normalized without changing the number.
  2. 2. Review the length, digits, and required starting and ending 3. These checks validate structure only.
  3. 3. Copy the number and open the official ZATCA lookup to confirm the registration. Only then use the actual registered number in a tax invoice.

Why there are two checks

Fawtar checks the format inside your browser. Your number is saved to your account only if you choose the account action. The official taxpayer lookup is the separate step that confirms registration.

The seller VAT number appears in a tax invoice and, where applicable, in its QR. Do not treat a format check as approval of the whole invoice or as evidence of Phase 2 activation.

Use verified tax details in your invoice

After checking registration, carry your actual VAT number into the invoice generator. Its format check does not replace verifying the business.

Prepare an invoice with the right tax details

Leave your email for the short path from checking the format to preparing a Saudi invoice. No card or commitment.

How many digits does a Saudi VAT number have?

The Saudi VAT number contains 15 digits. This tool checks the length and start/end structure only; it does not prove the business is registered.

How do I verify actual registration?

Use ZATCA’s official taxpayer lookup after checking the format. This public tool does not query the registration database.

Where does the VAT number appear in an invoice?

The seller VAT number appears clearly in a tax invoice and in the QR where used. Phase 1 requires QR for simplified invoices; do not generalize that rule to Phase 2.
