Penalty estimate
VAT penalty calculator
Estimate late payment and VAT return filing penalties, distinguishing the two violations before reading the total.

Any part of a month counts as a full month; for example, 1.2 counts as two months.
Enter valid values to calculate an estimate.
Notice: These are indicative estimates based on the published percentages. The actual penalty may differ according to your circumstances and ZATCA's decision. Combining penalties assumes both violations occurred. Filing the return and paying VAT on time are separate obligations from preparing an invoice.
This saves a copy of this tool's inputs and result, then opens it after signup or login. It does not issue an invoice or start a paid subscription.

How should I read the calculator's result?
This educational estimate uses the amount and delay you enter. It is not a ZATCA demand or tax advice. Results may differ with the tax, return, facts, decisions or initiatives in effect when filing.
Late payment and late filing are separate violations. A combined total assumes both apply. If the return was filed on time but payment is late, read only the payment penalty. Payment uses 5% of unpaid VAT for each month or part thereof; filing ranges from 5% to 25% of VAT that should have been declared. The calculator does not determine the actual percentage for your case.
Check the VAT principal
Separate unpaid VAT from sales or the gross amount before entering the figure.
Check the deadline
Identify the return and due period: part of a month may affect the calculation.
Use official sources
Before paying or objecting, review ZATCA's published penalty schedule and instructions.
Prepare an invoice PDF for review
Design and preview without an account. PDF download requires a free account, no card (3 invoices per month). The tool does not file your return, pay your VAT or replace the e-invoicing system required for your situation.
Create an invoice nowWhat is the penalty for late VAT payment?
The estimate is 5% of unpaid VAT for each month or part of a month of delay.
What is the penalty for filing a VAT return late?
The range is 5% to 25% of the VAT that should have been declared, under the official penalty schedule. This range does not set an automatic percentage for each month of delay.
How can I avoid e-invoicing penalties?
Review invoicing and record-keeping requirements, and file returns and pay VAT on time. A PDF invoice or QR alone does not file a return, pay VAT or demonstrate compliance with e-invoicing requirements.
To prepare your review before filing, use the VAT return estimate , then the Guide to the return versus the accounting report.
