A report is not a return

The report prepares the numbers; the return is filed on ZATCA’s portal

VAT returns are filed through ZATCA’s e-service. Fawtar’s Pro report totals output VAT from issued invoices by month, quarter or year. Business subtracts input VAT from recorded expenses and exports a CSV pack for an accountant. The public calculator estimates 15% on figures you type in the browser, with no return boxes, imports, or zero-rated supplies. Fawtar does not file the return for you.

Fawtar at fawtar.app is an independent Saudi product. It is not ZATCA’s Fatoora platform, not Fatoora.app, not Oman’s Fawtara programme, and not Jordanian Fawtara products. This page is a reading aid. Last verified 2026-08-29. It is not tax advice.

Where is VAT calculated?

SurfaceWhat it doesWhat it is not
Public Fawtar calculatorA 15% output/input estimate in the browser. Not a return; your figures are not stored.
Pro reportOutput VAT from saved invoices.Does not include input VAT.
Business reportOutput minus expense input VAT, with export. Not a submission on ZATCA’s portal.
ZATCA e-serviceWhere the official return is filed. Not a Fawtar product.

Notes change output VAT

A credit note reduces output VAT in the record; a debit note increases it. Keep the note with the original invoice inside the report. Do not delete the original to “fix” a return.

We do not guess return boxes

This page does not number ZATCA’s form boxes. Imports, zero-rated and exempt supplies, and adjustments sit outside the calculator and need your accountant and ZATCA’s form.

What Fawtar does here

Review the report, export the pack on Business, and file on ZATCA’s portal. Fawtar does not claim the report is an accepted return.

Short questions

Does the calculator result get sent to ZATCA?

No. The maths stays in your browser. Filing is ZATCA’s service.

Is Pro enough for the return?

Pro shows output VAT. Input deduction in the report needs expenses recorded on Business, then a professional review.
